The GT3 championship was launched by Stephane Ratel with his SRO organisation in 2006, and since then it has become the most successful GT category in modern history. 

 

Since 2006 GT3 has spread across the globe in a variety of different championships, not forgetting halo events such as the Spa 24 Hours and Bathurst 12 Hours. With a rich variety of shapes, sounds and famous marques there is much to be loved about the history of GT3. 

 

In its early years, the cars were closely related to their road-going counterparts, and then in later years the cars became significantly enhanced in areas such as aerodynamics, suspension, brakes and so on. All the while remaining accessible with strong a focus on the racing spectacle.
